Emilie Sheung Chun (Apprentice)
Born and raised on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, Emilie moved to New York in the Fall 2018 to train at The Ailey School as a scholarship student, in aspiration to become a more versatile dancer. Classically trained in the Royal Academy of Dance method at The David Academy of Dancing at home, she additionally attended Summer Intensives namely at Royal Academy of Dance headquarters in London, FRD Stage de Danse in Reunion Island, and the American Ballet Theater Collegiate Summer intensive in New York. In Mauritius, she performed numerous productions as corps and soloist staged by her long time teacher, coach and mentor Teresa David such as Celebration of Love and Passion. She also performed in excerpts of La Bayadère, Le Corsaire and Sleeping Beauty and was cast in an all Mauritian production of The Phantom of the Opera in the role of a dancer and landed a main role in a Hua Wei commercial promoting dance. After having completed her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance, Emilie gained a few years of experience by teaching and also creating choreographies for end of year school productions in Mauritius before moving to the Big Apple to pursue her dreams.
