Laura Dearman Mosteller (Chance-to-Choreograph Artist 2025)
Laura Dearman Mosteller is a New York City-based dancer and choreographer dedicated to embodied storytelling. Originally from North Carolina, she holds a BA in Dance: Performance, Choreography, and Theory from UNC Charlotte and earned a Professional Training Certificate from Charlotte Ballet. Laura’s choreographic work explores the expressive gaps between human experiences and language, particularly in moments of trauma, grief, and adversity.
After years of developing her choreographic voice and presenting solo works, Laura made her professional operatic choreography debut in 2022 with Being Ariodante (composed by Jonathan Dawe) at Columbia University’s Italian Academy. In the following year, her work for The Womxn Have Something to Say (2023) at The Cell Theatre became a cornerstone of her artistic mission, resulting in continued public workshops offered through The Why Collective.
In 2024, she launched her Dance Diaries series, which transforms daily movement reflections into choreographic storytelling, introducing January in Brooklyn at NY City Center studio theatre. Most recently, Laura’s work extends into film, with her first Executive Producer credit for the dance documentary Living the F**king Dream (to be released in 2025).
