Israel Harris
Israel Harris (he/him) is a Latino-American with Indigenous, Mayan heritage originating from Guatemala, and raised in Bellevue, WA. He is a Brooklyn-based, freelance artist with specialties in dance instruction, performance, and choreography, media production and management, communication and marketing practices, and legislative advocacy. He graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance, a Minor in Psychology, and a Minor in Hebrew and Judaic Studies. He’s had the pleasure of performing feature roles in works by Wayne McGregor and Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE, and danced in works by Lar Lubovitch, Ori Flomin, Luca Renzi, and Valeria Gonzales. He was the rehearsal assistant to Sidra Bell during her creative process with the Second Avenue Dance Company in 2019, and is a current company member with Sean Curran Company, Eryc Taylor Dance, and Drye Marinaro Dance Company. Israel had the pleasure of dancing abroad under the instruction of Judith-Sanchez Ruiz, Meg Stuart, Leila McMillan, Shahar Binyamini, Bosmat Nossan, and more. He has performed at venues such as Dixon Place, The Center at West Park, Abrons Arts Center, The 92nd St. Y, Irish Arts Center, Little Island NYC, Slate NYC, and others. With his extensive training in commercial dance, Israel is currently represented by The Movement Talent Agency. Along with his position at Neville Dance Theatre, Israel is a Legislative Assistant at the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, striving to create a more just and equitable world for all, and strives to work at the intersection of arts and advocacy as a dancer and creator.
